Early Treatment

In most cases when orthodontic treatment is needed, the ideal age to begin is when the patient is in their early teenage years. However, there are cases where earlier treatment is better. Because of this, it is recommended that all children see an orthodontist on or around their seventh birthday.

Early treatment is extremely helpful when children present with significant orthodontic abnormalities. These abnormalities, if not treated early on, tend to require invasive measures, such as surgery and tooth extraction. But if treated early, Dr. Eberle can avoid this and use simple appliances to remedy the issue. This is because the jaw is still growing by quite a bit, giving the doctor the option to harness this growth to deliver results.

Please keep in mind that Dr. Eberle does not suggest early treatment unless it is truly needed. Whenever possible, the doctor will wait until the child is older to begin treatment. If early treatment is suggested, there is a very real need for it.
