Foods to Avoid

While braces aren’t exactly delicate, they are not the most resilient things either. Eating the wrong foods can severely damage them and compromise the results of treatment. In addition to minimizing sugary foods and drinks, take care to avoid these types of foods.

Sticky Foods to Avoid:candy

  • Gum (sugar-free or regular)
  • Licorice
  • Sugar Daddies
  • Toffee
  • Tootsie Rolls
  • Caramels
  • Starburst

Hard Foods to Avoid:apple

  • Ice
  • Nuts
  • Hard taco shells
  • French bread crust/rolls
  • Corn on the cob
  • Apples and carrots (unless cut into small pieces)
  • Bagels
  • Chips
  • Jolly Ranchers
  • Pizza crust
  • Uncooked carrots (unless cut)
